Chateau Bourgneuf, Merlot Blend, Saisons de Bourgneuf 2022

$66.00

Château Bourgneuf in Pomerol is a family estate spread over 9 hectares in a well-situated parcel (just next door to Trotanoy). Bourgneuf has belonged to the Vayron family since 1840. Frédérique Vayron (sister of Sommelier and California winemaker Marie Vayron-Ponsonnet) has mostly taken over winemaking from her father Xavier, and makes a classic Pomerol wine—vibrant and balanced, from soils of blue clay with traces of oxidized iron.

Saisons is a cuvée of 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc created by Frédérique in 2012 and made entirely from a vineyard planted in 2010. Instead of blending it into the main Pomerol, she aims to make a wine that was true to its place but also showcase Merlot in a more early drinking style.
